Denjoy Minimal Sets Are Far from Affine

چکیده
Not every Cantor set can arise as the minimal set for a C 1 diieomor-phism of the circle. For example, D. McDuu has shown that the usual \middle thirds" Cantor set cannot arise this way. In this note we exclude a suitable neighborhood of the class of aane Cantor sets.

Weak Disks of Denjoy Minimal Sets
This paper investigates the existence of Denjoy minimal sets and, more generally, strictly ergodic sets in the dynamics of iterated homeomorphisms. It is shown that for the full two-shift, the collection of such invariant sets with the weak topology contains topological balls of all finite dimensions. One implication is an analogous result that holds for diffeomorphisms with transverse homoclin...
متن کاملThe linking homomorphism of one - dimensional minimal sets ✩
We introduce a way of characterizing the linking of one-dimensional minimal sets in threedimensional flows and carry out the characterization for some minimal sets within flows modelled by templates, with an emphasis on the linking of Denjoy continua. We also show that any aperiodic minimal subshift of minimal block growth has a suspension which is homeomorphic to a Denjoy continuum. 2003 Els...
متن کاملAlmost Periodically Forced Circle Flows
We study general dynamical and topological behaviors of minimal sets in skewproduct circle flows in both continuous and discrete settings, with particular attentions paying to almost periodically forced circle flows. When a circle flow is either discrete in time and unforced (i.e., a circle map) or continuous in time but periodically forced, behaviors of minimal sets are completely characterize...
متن کاملSolenoidalization and Denjoids
We describe a method (solenoidalization) of obtaining flows on κ–solenoids from a given flow on a κ–torus. When we apply this process to the Denjoy flows on T2, we obtain flows whose minimal sets we call denjoids. We give a topological classification of these indecomposable, one-dimensional continua.
متن کاملVanishing Homology Guillaume
In this paper we introduce a new homology theory devoted to the study of families such as semi-algebraic or subanalytic families and in general to any family definable in an o-minimal structure (such as Denjoy-Carleman definable or ln − exp definable sets). The idea is to study the cycles which are vanishing when we approach a special fiber. This also enables us to derive local metric invariant...
